You arrive in Vila Serena, a small mountain town, with a suitcase, a laptop and a novel stuck on chapter three. You rent the room above the Marca-Página café-bookshop, run by Lívia (24), whose smile arrives before her words. But the café has ten days left before the bank takes it, and a smooth-talking developer wants the building for a boutique hotel.
